DEAF CHILDREN

Rotary Sanskardham Academy is an ideal educatory system and provides state-of-the-art amenities and facilities to ensure that the students with hearing impairment and multiple disabilities and other special needs are provided with standard education and all round development.

With a humble beginning of 25 hearing-impaired students in 1995 (then Sanskardham Vidyalaya for Hearing Impaired- SVHI)  in a small shed in Goreagon’s Unnat Nagar for their daily classes has now grown into a full-fledged school that offers more than academics.

Functioning in a four-storied building constructed with a generous donation from the Rotary Club of Mumbai, Queen’s Necklace, the school now has 157 ( Autistic 28 , Hearing Impaired 129 ) students with special needs who participate in arts, sports, dance, drama, and martial arts among other activities. Students have access to fully-equipped classrooms, a well-equipped gymnasium, a well-stocked library, a computer lab and a mess hall.

Looking at the years of work and dedication of the SVHI faculty in educating students with special needs and integrating them into the mainstream, The Rotary Club of Mumbai, Queen’s Necklace, came forward to support the institute. The Rotary Club gave generous contributions and constructed a two-floor building for the school in 2008, which was later upgraded to four floors in 2012 after the Club felt the need to add more facilities in keeping with the students’ progress in academics and sports. Owing to their contributions, it was decided to name the institute the Rotary Sanskardham Academy

Choosing a school for children with disability is a huge challenge. It is crucial to find an environment where they receive exceptional care, the right support, specialist attention, as well as an excellent education and training that paves the way for their bright future.
